Office ergonomics: position, keyboard and RSI prevention

·4 min read·The Expert Dactylo Team

What is the correct posture for typing?

Sit with your back straight, feet flat on the floor. Your elbows form a 90° angle, your forearms are parallel to the floor. The top of your screen is at eye level. Your wrists don't rest on the desk while typing — they "float" slightly above the keyboard to allow fingers to move freely.

How to avoid carpal tunnel syndrome?

Carpal tunnel syndrome is often linked to poor wrist positioning. Three essential rules: never bend your wrists up or down, keep them in the natural extension of your forearms, and take regular breaks. The 20-20-20 rule helps: every 20 minutes, look 20 meters away for 20 seconds and stretch your fingers.

Is a wrist rest recommended?

Contrary to intuition, wrist rests are not always beneficial during typing. They're useful during breaks, but during typing they can create pressure on the carpal tunnel. Best practice: floating wrists during typing, a soft wrist rest for break moments.
